Framed Sony Walkman WM-EX1 – Restored & Fully Playable Cassette Player Wall Art

Why collectors keep coming back to the WM-EX1

The WM-EX1 is the Walkman that made every other cassette player look old. When Sony launched it in the early 1990s, it was the flagship of the ultra-slim series — an impossibly thin aluminum body with a motorized cassette door that opened like a small piece of precision machinery. Thirty years later, it is still the model collectors ask for first.

This is not a display-only prop. It is a working WM-EX1 that has been fully restored in our studio and test-played before it ships.

What we do to every WM-EX1

• Replace the drive belts with fresh ones
• Clean and align the tape heads and pinch rollers
• Strip, clean and re-lubricate the mechanism
• Refurbish the case and controls
• Test-play cassettes for hours until it sounds right

Framed as wall art, ready to hang

The player is mounted in a hand-finished solid wood frame with a protective display window — you can take it out, play a tape, and put it back. It looks at home in a listening room, office shelf, or above a record player.
