Bringing the Golden Age of Portable Audio Back to Your Wall
Why we restore Walkmans
These are twenty-five-year-old machines, and they were never perfect.
Tapes jam. Speed drifts. There is hiss you cannot get rid of, and you cannot skip to a track without holding fast-forward and guessing. Digital music replaced them, and then smartphones finished the job. Nobody needs a Walkman.
That is exactly why we could not let them disappear. The Walkman is where a whole generation first heard music on their own terms — the first album they bought with their own money, the first mixtape someone made for them, the first time music belonged to you and nobody else. We did not want that era to be forgotten, and we did not want these machines to end up in landfill.
So we started buying them — the ones nobody wants anymore, with dead belts, corroded capacitors and jammed mechanisms. Each one is opened, cleaned and serviced by hand: belts, gears, capacitors and mechanisms inspected and replaced where needed, then tested until it plays the way it did the year it was made. Only then does it go into a solid wood frame.
Most of what we restore is Sony — the WM-EX series, the Discman D-series — because that is what we collect ourselves. Where we find a good Panasonic, Toshiba or Aiwa from the same era, we restore those too.
What makes our pieces different
100% hand-restored. Every unit is opened, cleaned, and serviced by hand. Belts, gears, capacitors and mechanisms are inspected and replaced where needed.
Real, playable audio. Your frame isn’t just decoration — it plays CDs or cassettes, and we can add Bluetooth where you want it.
Honest vintage condition. We keep the natural traces of time: scuffs, faded logos, the character only 30 years can give.
Display-ready framing. Solid wood frame, acrylic dust cover, wall-ready and gift-ready.
